Our Terraces
From rooftop sanctuaries and tucked away secret gardens, to gorgeously curated courtyards and foliage-filled conservatories, our terraces are the ideal destination for those longer spring days. The perfect seasonal haven for a sunny glass of rosé or a candlelit meal, and many of our terraces have plenty of cover for those pesky April showers (you might even discover a fire pit or two!)
Whilst our terraces offer a charming outdoor experience, at The Ivy we also embrace bringing the outside in. Our dining rooms celebrate nature with their breathtaking botanicals and flowers with some even home to beautiful indoor trees. Whether you’re in the mood for a leisurely brunch, a romantic dinner or drinks with friends, there’s no better way to see in spring than surrounded by gorgeous greenery in one of our magical restaurants.

How Does Your Garden Grow?
Our gardens, terraces and gorgeous indoor greenery are carefully cultivated by a team of over 20 Ivy gardeners, their knowledge and passion evident in every beautiful space. Ryan Cahill has been part of the Ivy gardening team for four years and has shared his top tips for making any garden bloom this spring.
Walk on the wild side with wildflowers
“I definitely recommend planting wildflowers – what I like to do is find a seed mixture that’s right for me, whether I’m going for a full sun area or a shady spot. Usually when you start wildflowers from seeds you really don’t have to add a lot of effort in when it comes to watering or maintenance – they kind of truck along and do their own thing. They’re a really fun thing to experiment with.”
Small space? Think spiller, thriller and filler
“If you have limited space, what I like to do is plant mixed planters, where you get more than one plant in there. The rule of thumb for this is to get a spiller, a thriller and a filler. A spiller will be something like a vine or foliage that ‘spills’ over the edge of the pot. Your thriller is your main flower – your most showy bloom – and your filler is something that fills in the rest of the pot, your supporting character.”
Perfect planting
“The best time to start planting in the UK is once the danger of frost has passed. Perennials can be a bit more tolerant but for more sensitive plants you want to wait until any chance of frost is gone. I like to start with bedding plants when the daffodils start to come up – the weather is still cool enough for them to get their roots in deep which helps when the heat of summer comes in.”
